Who sent me this text? Identify the sender in 30 seconds
Type the number shown at the top of the SMS thread. Clairmo cross-references public directories, community reports and anti-spam intelligence to tell you who's behind the text — carrier, region, possible owner and risk level.
4 sender types — how to read them
Local mobile number (06, 07 in FR / 555 in US)
Often a fake bank or delivery scam. Fraudsters rent SIMs short-term. Clairmo flags numbers seen across mass-smishing waves.
5-digit short code
Either a registered marketing/transactional service OR a foreign short code abused for smishing. Clairmo identifies the issuing operator and cross-checks the community database.
International number (+44, +234, +1, +33...)
High likelihood of smishing if the topic is local ("your local bank", "your delivery"). No legitimate domestic service texts you from abroad.
Sender shown as alphanumeric name (Sender ID)
Alpha sender = SMS spoofing possible. The real number is hidden. Trust the content and the link, never the displayed name.
Why check a text's sender?
Before tapping any link
A single tap can compromise a bank account or install a trojan. Verifying the number first is the #1 defence against smishing.
Before calling back
Calling a premium-rate number can cost you several dollars per minute. Clairmo automatically detects premium prefixes (089X in FR, 900 in US, 09 in UK).
To protect the community
Each report on Clairmo raises a number's public risk score and shields the next recipients. Your report counts.
